Rice Bran Oil
So, from what I have been reading online, Rice bran oil is said to be rich in vitamin E, stimulates collagen production and relieves itchy skin. It is also said that this multipurpose oil has some sunscreen properties and is used in Japan as such. Soul Scentsibility uses Rice Bran Oil in our face and other soap bars and we continue to search for sustainable unique oils to provide our customers with the best products we can get our little hands on.
This may just be the right oil to substitute for olive oil in lotions. If it does what I have read it does then why not. Look for it coming soon.

Oily Skin
Lately I've been having a number of conversations about oily skin. The one thing I will say is that oil combats oil. That is to say that squeaky clean, means DRY. Especially for oily skin.
If oily skin becomes too dry it will more than likely produce more oil. Not the look we are going for. A good cleanser that doesn't dry the skin is what we want.
Soul Scentsibility is formulating a number of clay blend and nut based cleansers that are skin loving and won't dry out the skin..... Look for Soul Scentsibility's Sooth bar soap coming soon. Formulated with Almond, Tamanu and Castor oil. Great for Eczema.

Use of Palm Oil Controversy
So today at the farmer's market a woman asked if I used palm oil in all my soap. I stated yes. She then said that palm oil is not good for the enviornment. That in itself is true and untrue. Palm oil plantations in themselves do not harm the enviornment, but the people who harvest the palm oil do. They rape the land, kill orangatanges etc. Deforestation is a big problem and contributes to global warming. That being said, there are companies dedicated to the use of "sustainable" palm oil. The ethical debate is if all the companies stop using palm oil, many people who depend on that industry will be out of work with no other means to feed their families. Then what for them? What is a small soap maker to do?I purchase my palm oil from New Directions Aromatics It is my understanding that New Directions uses Palm oil that is a member of the round table on Sustainable Palm oil. They list this on their web site "In keeping with our desire to promote ethical and sustainable harvests, our palm oil is produced by a company that is a member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil. "As soul scentsibility is commited to the enviornment and would be deeply disturbed to know that our actions have caused any adverse effects on the enviornment. We are looking into vegetarian substitues for many of our formulations
